Lumina Awards Grants for Enrollment Projects
Inside Higher Ed has the story of several large grants going to schools and university systems for enrollment programs and innovations. A few of the awards were $750,000 each.
The story has details on some of the grant winners, but ease of transfer and direct admissions programs seem to have been favored.
Greenfield Community College Records Back-to-Back Enrollment Increases
According to local reporting, Greenfield Community College (MA), has posted a 13% increase in enrollment for the most recent semester — its second consecutive semester of growth.
The school is small, so 13% is only about 150 students. Still, growth is good.
From the coverage:
GCC interim Dean of Enrollment Management Patrick Tanner attributed the college’s upward enrollment trend to recent improvements at the college, including an enhanced student schedule system, wraparound student support services aimed at helping students succeed, and a faster and more intuitive application process that was rolled out last summer. The enrollment boost also comes following last year’s launch of the MassReconnect program, allowing tuition-free community college enrollment for eligible residents ages 25 and older.
Graphic on Enrollment Projections
The website Statista has an interesting graphic on overall college enrollments, including projections out to 2031. The data is based on NCES projections.
What’s interesting about this data and this graphic is that it does not show an enrollment cliff, at least not nationally. Instead, it shows steady enrollment growth between 2022 and 2031, from about 18.5 million students to a projected 20.2 million.
